Supporting the Upkeep and Development of the St Magnus Way

If you have ever enjoyed walking the St Magnus Way and thought you would like to support its upkeep and development, there is now a new way to do so – you can become a Friend.

The St Magnus Way is the pilgrimage route (long distance footpath and cycle route) that traverses Orkney from Egilsay to Kirkwall. It broadly follows the journey of Magnus' body after his martyrdom to his final resting place.

The trustees of Orkney Pilgrimage who maintain and develop the route, and the associated resources, have recently launched a Friends organisation for those who wish to support their work. Individuals, families, organisations and companies can all become a Friend of the St Magnus Way. Both individual and corporate Friends will pay a small annual subscription and in return receive regular newsletters, and be invited to an annual members event. Corporate Friends will also be acknowledged on the St Magnus Way website. The subscriptions will support maintenance and development work on the route. Individuals, organisations or corporate bodies who are interested in becoming a Friend can download an application form from here or pick up a form from the St Magnus Way table in the St Magnus cathedral. It is hoped the new Friends organisation can ensure the long-term sustainability of the route.
