Newsflash! The St Magnus Way is in the top 10 Scottish pilgrimages.

Great news! The St Magnus Way has been added in the list of the top 10 pilgrimage routes in Scotland by the British Pilgrimage Trust. It's a great accolade for the St Magnus Way to be included and recognition of the hard work of the many volunteers who developed the route and continue to support and care for it.

It is the first time the trust have published these lists, which show the most popular routes people are actively planning to walk. They expect it to generate a lot of discussion and will help to raise the profile of all the routes as well as the modern practice of pilgrimage as a whole.

A press release by the Trust has gone out to various national and local papers, and can be seen here.

The top 10 routes in Scotland are:

  • St Columba's Way
  • Edinburgh Cathedral Pilgrimage in a Day
  • St Conan's Pilgrims Way
  • Fife Pilgrim Way
  • Whithorn Way
  • Forth to Farne Way
  • St Margaret's Way
  • St Magnus' Way
  • Dalriada Way
  • St Wilfrid's Way (Hexham to Edinburgh)
